For SS12, LIZ BLACK presents her second ready-to-wear collection, Ready to Board. A new strength is applied to the female frame, with an emphasis on the hip reflecting the motion and drive of the busy woman as she struts through the city. Ready to Board takes much inspiration from the modern glass and metal architecture of Zaha Hadid, luxurious leather luggage and goods, angular design and interiors and the dynamic design work of Markus Benesch – along with many ideas associated with the concepts of movements, power, travel and speed.
Liz’s wide range of influences slot together comfortably, helping to build a high quality collection that combines a strong, clean feminine aesthetic with hard-edged shapes. The lines, the details textures and angles that make up these wearable pieces point towards freedom as well as security, empowering the woman on the journey through her energetic lifestyle.
The collection presented at the exhibition during London Fashion Week, 2011, displays structural shapes of necklines, so the geometrical neckline becomes a recognisable element of this collection.
Liz Black is a celebrated graduate of the acclaimed Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London. Liz is described by Vogue Italia as “a designer to watch out for”. Having gained significance of the London and New York fashion scenes with Emilio de la Morena and Diane von Furstenberg, Liz decided to create her own label in 2010.
